A time share I make payments to is asking for a remittance of a late fee because they state they received my check four days late on Feb. 14. I sent my check on Feb 5 to Arizona. The check is stamped on the back Feb. 14 from JP Morgan in Fort Worth, TX. The time share claims they received this check in Arizona on Feb. 14. Is this possible to have a check received in Arizona and sent to Texas for cashing/processing on the same day?
It is certainly possible for your check to have been received by the time share management company and deposited to its account at JPMorgan Chase on the same day. The branch bank may be located in Arizona, even if the check endorsement suggests it is in Fort Worth (which is a regional check processing center for the bank).
Even if you allow one additional day for the check to make it from the management company to Fort Worth, that still puts the check in the management company's hands after the due date. Perhaps you should allow more time for mail in transit for your payments in the future.
