Searching for Lost Bank Statements

What should my banks response and obligation be when I tell them I haven't received my monthly account statements? I have three accounts at my bank and all three close on the same day. Several times over the past four years I've not received statements in the mail for one or two of these accounts. Each time this happened I've contacted the bank and they'd send a copy of the missing statement.

Its happened again and I want the bank to investigate why this is happening, but so far I am getting their standard response, "the statement department says they were mailed." If a bank tells me the statements were mailed and I tell them I haven't received them, don't they have an obligation to investigate further? For the record, I've talked to the post office, and they say a sender, not the receiver, of missing mail must initiate any action.

The bank may be able to pursue this with the postal service, but there's no knowing what time that will take or if it would even ever be resolved. There is no reason the bank wouldn't send it. You may want to seek a faster alternative that would include electronic delivery of your statements if the bank provides this, or a post office box address. Another possibility would be to pick up your statements from the bank, but that may be inconvenient. There are options for you, but some have costs and all have change.
