Memo Line on Cashier's Check

Can I add to a cashier’s check in the memo section once I've bought it from the bank? I would not be adding to the payee/signature/money amount, just a note to the payee in the memo section.

Presumably, the "note to the payee" would be something like "credit account of Jim Jones" or an account number or some other reference designed to assist the payee in appropriately applying the proceeds of the check. There is no problem with adding this information after the check is issued.
