Is it legal for a minor to open a checking account in the state of Texas?
Yes. Texas laws allow a minor to have a checking account without a parent or guardian listed on it. That parent or guardian may however request that he/she be added, and the financial institution must comply with that request. This is under the Texas Finance Code, 34.305.
