Order Banks Pay Checks

Aren't banks supposed to pay your checks in the order that they come in and not from the largest to smallest amount?

No. The bank will determine the order of payment. There could be a state with a law specifying the payment order and we are not familiar with the laws of all states, but there are no federal requirements and the states we are familiar with do not regulate this. The bank isn't generally even required to disclose the payment order of checks to its customers.
