My husband and I have a jointchecking account. Due to his spending habits, I want to remove my name from this account. How should I go about doing this? What repercussions should I expect from doing so?
In most cases your bank will require that to remove a name, the account must be closed and a new account opened. Otherwise, problems arise when an older check is presented for payment. They have to look at the date, consider what would happen if the date is contested, etc. A new account is a clean start.
