I was a victim of an online money scam last year. The money is gone and I owe my bank $4,000. I went to them and asked how I could rectify the situation and they said that they have no record of the incident. However I cannot open a bank account anywhere else because of this problem. What can I do?
If your (old) bank has no record of the loss, ask them why they are reporting your account as being unsatisfactory? We must assume that this is the reason you cannot open a new account elsewhere.
What is likely to happen is that your bank will find the debt you say you owe them, and they'll want to make payment arrangements. If you're unwilling to do this, you'll have to live with the correct reporting they're providing.
