Time Frame a Stop-Payment Order is Effective

I stopped payment on a check, and I know it's been returned once, because the store I gave it to called me. I've returned the damaged goods they sent me, but they haven't sent my check back to me. Is my stop payment order still valid, or can the store redeposit it?

Your stop payment order should continue in force for a total of six months. If you haven't received the check back by then, and want to ensure it won't get redeposited when the six months is over, you will have to renew the stop payment before it expires. It would be a good idea to try to get the check back, since you've returned the merchandise.
