I didn't know that a check bounced until a TeleCheck system turned down a check I tried to write. There was money in the account. The bounced check was eventually paid. When I write a check at a store, will TeleCheck still refuse my checks?
They may well keep you on their black list. The criteria they use may be "have there been any returned checks?" The answer is yes. You may be stuck if the merchant bases their acceptance on TeleCheck.
When denied the ability to cash a check though, you should be given a toll-free telephone number where you can inquire about the reason for denial. Call and explain that there was a temporary error and that the check in question was paid. They can explain to you what it will take to get off the list. It may be that time is the only solution, but the end decision on check acceptance is the merchants.
