Cashier's Check for Inter-State Sale

Is a cashier's check safe if you are selling something from another state? Can a cashier's check be stopped?

Untitled

A legitimate cashier's check cannot be stopped. However, turning over or shipping anything of value to an out-of-state buyer is not recommended unless you are able to verify the authenticity of the check first. Using Directory Assistance or an online directory, find the telephone number for the issuing bank and make a call to see if the bank will verify the check.

Some banks won't verify their checks. In such a case, ask your bank to take the cashier's check for collection before you ship or hand over your property.
