What Makes a Check Valid?

What are the requirements for a check to be valid? What if the signature, date or account number is torn or missing?

Untitled

A check has to be a written order to pay a readily-determined sum of money from a designated checking account, and has to be signed in order to be a valid order. The date is not an essential element. However, the account number is needed to determine the account to be charged, and the signature is also required.
