Check Pay Amount Different: What is Enforceable?

I am trying to figure out if a check contains an order to pay an amount of $50 in numbers and $500 in words, would it be enforceable for $500?

Under the provisions of the Uniform Commercial Code in effect in virtually all states, when there is a discrepancy between two statements of a check's amount, words control numbers. The legal amount of the check you describe would be $500.
