Must be an Easier Way to Pay Rent

My landlord moved out of the area, but still maintains an account at a local bank. He left a book of deposit slips for me to pay my rent. Every month, I have to withdraw cash from my bank and then turn around and deposit it into his account. He and I both have accounts at the same bank. Is there an easier way? My rent is above my daily ATM withdraw amount, so I have to go in the bank to withdraw the money. Could I write my rent check payable to my landlord and, since his endorsement is not readily available, write "for deposit only" and his account number for a simpler transaction?

You should be able to make your payments that way, but to be on the safe side, check with the bank to ensure it won't have a problem with it.
