In the event a cashier's check is made out incorrectly (the name is incorrect), and the remitter wishes to have a new check written correctly written, does the bank that is issuing the check have to hold the incorrect check for a time before reissuing it for the remitter?
In the event that the remitter is able to return the incorrectly-issued check to the bank intact, there is no reason for the issuing bank to delay issuing the new check. You may have heard that an issuing bank must delay its reissue of a lost, stolen or destroyed cashier's check in order to be certain it won't be required to honor the check if it suddenly turns up, but that requirement only relates to claims that the check was lost, stolen or destroyed.
