Cashing an Old Cashier's Check

I recently found a cashier's check that was written to me in 12/06. It was never reissued. Does this mean that the original check was never cancelled, since it wasn't reissued? If so, can I cash this original check? The amount of the check is $2,500.00.

The check should still be good. Outstanding cashier's checks don't get canceled or become stale, although they can be treated as abandoned property under state laws. Contact the issuing bank to ensure that the funds for the check have not been surrendered to the state as abandoned property, and to ask what steps you will need to take to cash the check.
