Putting a Stop on a Cashier's Check

I bought a cashier's check to pay for an item to be shipped by mail. After calling the salesman to see if he had received it, he said he had been suspended from selling the items for the time being and would not be shipping for a week or so. Can I put a stop on the cashier's check? He has not received it yet, but will shortly.

If what you sent was actually a cashier's check, you don't have a right to stop payment on it. All you can do is hope that the salesman is honest and will not cash the check unless he is able to ship the item. When possible, if you cannot use a personal check to purchase something by mail, you should use a personal money order, which can be stopped, and not a cashier's check.
