Cashier's Checks: FDIC Insured?

Are cashier's checks FDIC insured if a bank goes under, or do they become worthless?


The cashier's check is considered an insured deposit in the name of the check holder at the time of failure. Under current rules, it may also be covered by the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee program, without dollar limits.
