Can a check written to two parties, business and an individual, be cashed without having both endorsements?
If the names of the payees are joined by the word "and" or an ampersand, both endorsements would be required for the check to be legally negotiated (cashed, deposited or transferred). If the word "or" joins the payee names, or if it is ambiguous whether both signatures are required, either signature would be legally sufficient. However, a bank might require both endorsements in any event.
