Proof of Sale before Car Purchase Happens

I am buying a car from out-of-state, and the seller wants a copy of my cashier's check before I show up to buy it. Is it OK to send him a photo of it?

You can do that, but you should prominently mark "COPY" on the face of the copy, without masking any of the information on the check, and make the copy about 25% larger or smaller than the original.
