Returning a Cashier's Check

A cashier's check was made to a roofing company, but the roofing company went under, so now I have a cashier's check in the roofer's name. Can I cancel it and re-deposit it into my account?

If you purchased the check, you should be able to return it to the issuing bank, explain that you no longer need it, and have the bank credit the funds back to your account. The bank may ask you to place a special endorsement on it as part of the process.
