Why does my directly depositedcheck take one day longer for me to access than if I were to receive a hard copy check from my company?
This is a question for your bank and your employer. The bank should be processing the direct deposit on the day it is received. If your employer distributes checks and sends the bank the direct deposit information the same day, the bank may not be able to process it immediately so it is available the next day. That is, if the bank receives it late in the day, processing won't take place until that evening.
Most employers send direct deposits so that they can be processed the day before checks go out. That way, direct deposit is available the day checks are being manually distributed.
