Canceling a Stop Payment on Cashier's Check

I found my missing cashier’s check for which I had requested a stop payment. Can I cancel or revoke the stop payment that I had requested? Can I get reimbursed for the checks?

Stop payments are not supposed to be permitted on cashier's checks. A bank that refuses to pay its own cashier's check can run into a lot of trouble and expense. Some banks have attempted to place stop payments on their cashier's and teller's checks, and may have done so successfully, in spite of the laws to the contrary.

The bank should be more than willing to release the stop payment on the check. If you are the purchaser of the check, the issuing bank should also be willing to buy the check back from you or otherwise exchange it for a refund. You probably won't be reimbursed for the fee for issuing the check, and there may be a separate fee for canceling it. Contact the issuing bank for details.
