Time Limit on Personal Checks

Is there a time limit in which a personal check must be cashed or deposited?

Untitled

Not exactly. However, the law permits (not requires) a bank to refuse payment on any customer's check that is over six months old, so you should negotiate it promptly. The drawer of the check should not assume that a check won't get paid just because it's over six months old. Published on BankingQuestions.com 12/17/07
