I deposited two checks that totaled $1,800 and later received a letter from the bank saying they couldn't verify the person's endorsement. He is a member of the same bank, but has left town. How do I get my money?
Your bank isn't required to accept those checks for deposit. You can ask the bank to check the endorsement against its deposit records. If the bank persists in its refusal to give you credit for the checks, ask for the checks back and then go back to the individual who gave them to you to try to collect your money.
