Depositing an Insurance Draft

I have an insurance draft that says: "Payable to Linda Simms", a single individual (fake name). Can this be deposited into my joint account with my daughter?

The single individual may have something to do with your state's insurance laws and possibly marital status, but it does not affect your ability to deposit the check into a jointly owned account. The insurance company is stating that there is not, to its knowledge, a spouse who might be entitled to part of the insurance claim under state property laws.
