Can I deposit a check that was made out to a family member as a loan from a bank, who wants to have it deposited into my checking account?
This will depend on your bank's policies. Explain to your bank what you want to do. Your relative may be able to endorse the check at your bank with acceptable identification, and it to you, so that you will be endorsing the check after him or her.
Your bank isn't obligated to accept the check for deposit to your account, even if it can verify your relative's identity, so it's important that no one endorses the check before you find out what your bank will or will not do. If your bank won't take the two-party check, your relative may deposit the check to his/her own account and issue you a check that you can deposit into your account.
