I have a check made payable to me on which another person accidentally signed on the endorsement line. Can I still cash the check?
You should be able to. The fact that the anomalous endorsement appears on the check doesn't legally affect your ability to endorse and negotiate it. If that first endorsement was truly made in error, you could neatly draw a single line through it, don't try to black it out, initial that change, and endorse the check.
Before you do anything with it, though, check with the bank or other business where you plan to cash or deposit it. Banks and other businesses can be particular about their policies and procedures. What you certainly don't want to do is find out the bank won't accept the check after you've endorsed it.
