Obtaining Copies of Deposited Checks

Can I get copies of checks I deposited from the bank?

Your bank is required to maintain a record of checks over $100 deposited to your checking account for five years. Most banks do that by retaining an image of the check.

Your bank should be able to provide you a copy of such checks if you can provide the date of the deposit and, if large numbers of checks were deposited, some identifying information to help the bank find the appropriate images. Banks are entitled to charge a fee for such service, and the fees can be extensive if you need copies of large numbers of checks. If your need is to get copies of checks you deposit each day, make those copies yourself, before bringing the deposit to the bank.
