I have an uncashed check from 2000 that I am trying to get reissued. The company keeps saying they are able to reissue it, but then nothing ever gets sent. Do they, by law, have to reissue a check that is so old?
Whether the company has to reissue the check will depend on whether you still have an enforceable claim on the company. For example, some obligations have statutes of limitations that prevent claims made several years after the fact. The company may be trying to determine whether it ever issued a replacement check already. The only thing you can do is to continue to persist in your reminders to the company.
