Using Marriage License as ID to Cash Check

I currently live in Texas. I just moved from Alaska, where I have a permanent fund dividend check from the state for $3200. I don't currently have a bank account. Is there a place where I can cash it, considering it's out of state. My maiden name is on the check. Do I just need to bring my marriage license with me?

You may be able to use your marriage license to obtain a new state drivers license or ID card. This will show that you are one in the same person is asked, because you will have old ID and new.

You may find a check cashing company that will accept your marriage license, but hopefully you still have an old photo ID as well, assuming the check was payable to your married name. You may let your fingers do the walking and call companies first, to see what requirements they have.

You may also consider opening a bank account. You already see that such an account would have value. Your bank can take the check and without any risk send it for collections. Those funds would then be deposited in your new account. This may be the least expensive way to get this done.
