Banks' Responsibility for Keeping Information

Are banks responsible for keeping copies of a customer's deposited checks? Does my bank have a responsibility for supplying me with deposit information?

Your bank has the responsibility to show on your statement the deposited amount, and while your bank may have made an electronic image of that item, they do not have to provide you with copies of what you deposited. In most all cases, you provided it to them initially. For a fee, your bank may be able to locate that item in their records, but that could be a costly research bill as items are often not organized for retrieval in this manner.
