Dealing with a Double Payee Check

I have several checks from my insurance company made to me and a payee. I am mailing them to the payee and need to know exactly what I should put on the check: signature only, or pay to the order of the payee, or what?

The best choice is to simply endorse the check with your signature and then deliver it to the other payee for endorsement and negotiation. Ideally, that delivery will be secure and capable of documentation. In other words, use certified mail or some other form of delivery that can be tracked.
