I received a personal check from a federal credit union out of town, can I cash it at another credit union in town without an account there?
You may be able to, but credit unions are not all one big organization. The in-town credit union, assumably, is a separate entity from the credit union that sent you the check, and is not obligated to cash its checks. Contact the in-town credit union to see if it will accommodate you, but don't endorse the check unless you know the answer and have brought the check with you to the credit union's office.
