I deposited three checks twenty days ago. Only two were processed and the other got rejected due to not enough money in the account of the company who issued the check. They should return that check to me, and I called them many times about this. They said they already sent the check back, but I still didn't receive it. If the check is lost, is the bank responsible for it? If I don't have that check to send it back, I can't show the company that their account doesn't have enough money. What should I do?
If the check can't be located, your bank will be able to produce a photocopy which you can use to show the remitter that it was dishonored. The company will also be able to tell from its own bank records that the check was not honored.
