It is certainly possible. However, before you do it, you should check to make sure your friend is willing to accommodate your request and that her bank will allow her to cash the check after endorsing it herself.
The reason for the warning is that many banks will not accept a check, even from their own customers, if the checks have been previously endorsed by the payee, and the payee is not a customer of the bank asked to cash the check. The bank and your friend, would be liable to the bank the check is drawn on if your endorsement, for example, proved to be a forgery.
