Cashing Check from Closed Account

What happens if you cash a check and that person no longer has an account with that bank?

If the check cannot be paid because it is drawn on a closed account, you, as the endorser, will be liable to the bank for the amount of the check. Then you will have to try to collect the money directly from the person who gave it to you.
