I received a check that lists myself as one of four payees. Is this a legal way to write a check?
Checks may be written to multiple payees. The key is if it is payable to each individually using the word "and", or if it is to any one of these payees using the word "or." If the payee line is silent, it is assumed to be "or" and any one of the payees may endorse and cash the check.
