I am receiving a check for $98,000 for a workman's comp settlement, and I was wondering if I could cash it or if it had to be deposited into a bank to clear first.
Your bank will prefer that you deposit the check, let it clear, then withdraw funds as you need them. It might even not be possible for them to cash a check that large, without plenty of advance notice. Call your bank, explain the situation, and ask how to proceed.
