Banks and Check Information on File

I cashed a check from someone four months ago. Now I need to get the information about who wrote it. Do banks keep that information on file, imaging, since I didn't deposit it?

The bank has the record, but may have a very difficult time recalling it. If you have the exact dollar amount of the check and the date that you cashed it, as well as the bank office where you cashed it, the bank may be able to locate an image of it. If it's a common amount, such as $100, the task may be very difficult.
