How to Get a Medicare Check Reissued

How do I get a stale Medicare payment check re-issued? The wording "Please cash within 365 days" was on the check, and the bank said they thought government checks were always good. It came back with Wisconsin Physicians Service, the issuer, highlighting the "Please cash within 365 days". A legal copy of the check was returned to me by my bank. I cannot find any information on where to inquire about getting this check reissued.

Contact the government agency that authorized the issuance of the check in the first place. Then provide them with a copy of the what you got back from the bank. Ask if they can reissue the payment.

Checks drawn on the U.S. Treasury are void after one year, and they say exactly that on their faces. The legend "please cash within 365 days" is not a familiar one. Although, if the issuer is actually not the U.S. Treasury (even though government funds are involved), that would explain the difference.
