When 'Final Bequest' is Not Final

I received an inheritance check from an attorney. In the memo he wrote "Final Bequest". If I cash the check, does that mean I agree/accept it as final payment? He tried this before, trying to get me to sign a form. I did not sign and other checks followed.

If you're concerned, give the check back to the attorney in exchange for a replacement check without the entry in the memo line. There is probably nothing amiss, but if you don't trust the attorney, you should do whatever you can to protect yourself.
