Cashing a Check to Multiple Payees

My father is ill and has asked me to consolidate his bank accounts. A check has been issued from another country and has the names of my entire family (five names) as payees. My father is not able to sign or speak. Can I deposit this check into his account without all the endorsements? How long can a bank take to make the funds available?

It will be the laws of the jurisdiction in which the check is payable (the foreign country) that determines whether all payees' endorsements are necessary. At minimum, you should obtain the endorsements of the other family members, then take the check to the bank where your father does business, and ask them to take it for deposit to his account.

Because the check is drawn outside the U.S., your father's bank will probably only accept it for collection, and credit the account when it receives final payment. That could take several weeks.
