Depositing and Transferring

I have an account in a bank at a different place from where I stay. I have a set of a/c payee cheques in my name from rent collections drawn on some other bank in that same city. Can I deposit these cheques from a branch of the same bank where I live, but where I do not have an account and ask them to deposit it in my account there? Do I need to start an account in this branch of that bank in order to do this transaction?

If you are asking about banks in the U.S., you should not have to open a new account for the branch of your bank in the city where you are living. In virtually every case, U.S. bank branches are integrated into the system of the bank's head office, and customers can move about from branch to branch without problems. However, outside the U.S, you will have to direct your question to the office of the bank in question.
