How do I get copies of checks that I have deposited? My manager decided to take out money out of my paycheck for not charging a customer the right price, and I know that on some of my paychecks she forgot to add ten or twenty dollars here and there. I didn't really care at the time, but if she's going to complain about five dollars, then I want to shove it in her face that she owe me over fifty bucks right now, but I need a copy of the checks she gave me because I need to know the dates I got paid through, so I can get the exact number of how much she owes me. I was also wondering if there is a fee to something like this.
To get copies of deposited checks, contact your bank and provide the exact date and amount of each deposit in question. You may have to review past bank statements to determine that information. Your bank may impose a research charge. You will have to ask the bank what those charges might be.
The details of why you want the check copies won't matter to the bank, but we have included them here in order to make a couple of points:
If you believe that your paycheck is incorrect, it is important that you bring the matter to your employer's attention promptly. Don't think about these problems because the longer the errors continue, the harder they are to correct.
Every paycheck is usually accompanied by a statement of earnings for the current pay period and year-to-date. You should keep those statements, and compare them with your year-end W-2 report from your employer.
