'Not Responsible for Return'..oh Yes!

If I write "not responsible for return" by the endorsement on a check written to me, would I still be responsible if it bounces?

Most likely, yes. Most banks have provisions in their deposit contracts that entitle them to unqualified endorsements on checks they accept for deposit, and stifle attempts to escape liability through a qualified endorsement such as the one about which you inquire.
