Endorsing Room Mate's Checks: Legal?

I have a joint checking account with a room mate. He received a check in the mail. I signed his name and mine and deposited it. Is that legal?



No, it is not. Without legal authority, such as through a Power of Attorney, you have no authorization to sign your room mate's name to the document.
