I was issued a check drawn on my father's trust account. How long do I have to cash it?
A check should be deposited or cashed as soon as possible, to avoid the possibility of losing or misplacing it and finding it much, much later, after it is stale. Unless there is language on the check that states otherwise, you should be able to cash it without any problem within six months. After six months, the bank that the check is drawn on may refuse to pay it.
