I received a refund check from the state of Texas. Where I should be endorsing it on the back, the issuer has placed a "statement" of what I am agreeing to by my endorsement. If I am going to deposit this check, can I deposit it without a signature or just use a stamp to endorse "For deposit only"?
By cashing the check you may be agreeing to the terms. If you don't agree to what is there and it is a condition of payment, don't accept the payment.
Refund checks do not generally accompany special provisions. Checks for settlement or acceptance of other terms may. Again, if you don't agree, don't cash the check. The fact that it went into your account, by your hand, may be sufficient agreement.
