I unknowingly deposited an NSFcheck into my account; am I liable for this? Also, can I deposit a U.S. dollar check into a Canadian dollar account?

If the deposited check is returned by the bank on which it is drawn, you will be responsible for the amount of the check and any attendant fees. Your bank will charge the check back to your account, with its fee for returned deposited items. If the result is that your account becomes overdrawn, your bank will expect you to cover the overdraft promptly.
Whether or not you can deposit a U.S. dollar checking into a Canadian dollar account is a matter of your bank's policy on accepting such items. You should make your inquiry of the bank.
