If I were to sign over a third party check to another person, what information do I have to provide for that person to be able to deposit it?
Many banks won't cash (which includes depositing) a third party check unless they know without a doubt that the other party is in fact the one who endorsed it. This often means they want to physically see that person and/or their ID. Some banks are less precautionary, so contact the other person's bank and ask what their requirements are. Please note that person's name and the date of your inquiry. That way you have it for reference when you actually go to the bank to negotiate the check.
